I have a Western Digital My Passport 2TB external drive that I can't gain access to, regardless of which operating system I use. I've tried accessing it by using a cell phone cable to connect to the USB 2.0 side of the USB 3.0 plug, the OS will recognize the drive, but won't open it.
I was thinking about buying the same drive on Ebay and swapping out the controller cards. Anybody know if that will work? I read somewhere that the card's BIOS might not work with another drive.
